Kingsport Ballet
Kingsport Ballet is a non-profit school and company located in downtown Kingsport. Artistic Director and Ballet Mistress, Valeria Sinyavskaya, oversees a teaching staff of seven professional instructors. Executive Director, Bertina Dew, has managed the organization since 1999. The company presents three productions a year, including The Nutcracker at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center and a full-length, story ballet such as Swan Lake or Sleeping Beauty each spring. In April of 2009, the Company celebrates its 20th anniversary with the Platinum performance at Eastman Auditorium. The school offers instruction in various forms of dance, including Pilates and adult ballet, and provides a yearly summer intensive with master teachers from around the world. The organization's DANCE CO outreach program provides ongoing instruction to under-served children in partnership with Girls Inc., Girls Circle and Boys and Girls Club. The program is in its sixth year, and has received funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, the City of Kingsport, the Kingsport Community Foundation and the Mooneyhan Family Foundation.
